Public Key
A public key is an alphanumeric string that is used as the address for you to send and receive Bitcoin from. It may be helpful to think of a public key as your checking account number or the number on your debit/credit card for Bitcoin payments. Public keys are connected to your private key, allowing Bitcoin to be spent but not without your permission.
Public keys are a critical element of Bitcoin addresses
